10-Oxooctadecanoic acid is an oxo fatty acid that can be isolated from mature adipocere in human remains that have been deceased for 6 months. 10-Oxooctadecanoic acid, together with monohydroxy fatty acids, promotes the enhancement and stabilization of adipocere formation[1].
10-oxooctadecanoic acid accounted for 0.9% and 1.5% of the total fatty acid weight in two human adipocere samples from Haiyuan, which were approximately 6 months post-mortem, but was not detected in samples that were approximately 3 months post-mortem [1].
