Z-LLE-AMC is a fluorescent substrate that, when hydrolyzed by specific proteases (20S proteasome, 26S proteasome), releases AMC with blue fluorescence (excitation at 340–360nm, emission at 440–460nm), which is used to monitor protease activity levels[1]. Z-LLE-AMC can be used to detect changes in caspase activity during apoptosis[2]. Z-LLE-AMC can also be used for high-throughput screening of drugs to identify compounds that can modulate protease activity[3].
