Trypsin inhibitor(soybean) is a trypsin inhibitor with an IC50 of 19 µM. It can also inhibit chymotrypsin with an IC50 of 14.3µM[1]. Trypsin inhibitor (soybean) has strong binding force with trypsin and blocks its active site, Ki=1-10−5nM[2]. Trypsin inhibitor (soybean) can be added to cell culture medium to terminate trypsin digestion of cells [3]. Trypsin inhibitor (soybean) inhibits trypsin at a 1:1 molar ratio.
In vitro, Trypsin inhibitor (soybean) (0-25µM) treated MCF-7 and HepG2 cells for 72 hours, and both inhibited cell proliferation, with IC50 values of 45.7µM and 23.7µM respectively [1]. Trypsin inhibitor (soybean) (10μg/mL) treated HEK and A549 cells for 24 hours, which produced significant cytotoxic effects, was more toxic to A549 cells, and increased the activity of reactive oxygen species scavenging enzymes [4].
In vivo, Trypsin inhibitor (soybean) (2.0mg/g) was orally fed to KM mice for 5 weeks, which significantly increased pancreatic mitochondrial MDA content and reduced SOD and GSH-Px levels [5].
