trans-Vaccenic acid is a kind of monounsaturated fatty acid which is the predominant trans isomer found in ruminant fats [1]. trans-Vaccenic acid is the primary precursor for endogenous synthesis of cis-9, trans-11 conjugated linoleic acid in animals and humans [1]. trans-Vaccenic acid exerts anti-inflammatory effects and helps alleviate complications associated with metabolic diseases [2]. trans-Vaccenic acid has been suggested as a beneficial effect in reducing the incidence of heart disease, cancer, and obesity in recent study [3].
trans-Vaccenic acid (0, 50, 100 and 200μM; 72h) inhibited the cell viability of MCF-7 cells in a dose-dependent manner [3]. trans-Vaccenic acid (0, 25, 50 and 100μM; 24h) significantly decreased p-Akt levels and Bad phosphorylation on Ser-136 and Ser-112 of NPC cells [4].
trans-Vaccenic acid (1% in diet; 11~15d; p.o.) increased CD8+ T cell population in tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in C57BL/6 mice implanted with B16F10 tumor [5]. trans-Vaccenic acid (1% in diet; 16 weeks; p.o.) reduced plasma triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), LDL cholesterol and nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA) concentrations in obese JCR:LA-cp rats [1].
