Biguanide is an orally active antiperglycemic agent. Biguanide inhibits mitochondrial ATP production, activates the LKB1-AMPK signaling pathway, and damages the energy homeostasis. Biguanide exhibits potential in ameliorating the type 2 diabetes and the insulin-associated cancers.
