1-heptadecanoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is an endogenous metabolite present in the blood and can be used as a diagnostic biomarker for depression in mouse models [1]. 1-heptadecanoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine alters the rigidity of the cell membrane and can interfere with tumor metastasis[2]. 1-heptadecanoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is widely used as an internal standard to develop electrospray mass spectrometry for the identification of related compounds [3].
In vivo, 1-heptadecanoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine treatment via a single intravenous injection at a dose of 5mg/kg for 2 hours significantly reduced the interaction between TRPV4 and KCa3.1 channels in the coronary artery endothelial cells (CAECs) of mice and decreased the vascular dilation of the arterial segments[4].

Preparation Method | Male C57BL/6J mice (6 weeks old) were housed under specific-pathogen-free conditions, with environmentally controlled conditions (24±1°C, 12h light/dark cycles) with free access to dry food and water. Mice were injected i.v. with 1-heptadecanoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (5mg/kg) or vehicle. After 2h, mice were killed by CO2 asphyxiation and the coronary artery endothelial cells were collected for analysis. |
