Trilaurin (1,2,3-Trilauroyl-rac-glycerol) is an orally active triacylglycerol that inhibits the formation of neoplasms initiated by dimethylbenzanthracene (DMBA) and promoted by croton oil [1]. Trilaurin is produced from an esterification reaction between glycerol and excess lauric acid [2]. Trilaurin is used in cosmetics as a skin conditioning agent and non-aqueous thickener [3]. Trilaurin can be used as a model compound to optimize the parameters of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) for efficient identification of related compounds[4].
