Zinquin ethyl ester is a lipophilic, cell membrane-permeable fluorescent probe for zinc ions (excitation wavelength 368nm, emission wavelength 490nm). After entering cells, Zinquin ethyl ester is hydrolyzed by esterases to generate negatively charged Zinquin, which remains intracellularly and forms a complex with Zn²⁺, resulting in enhanced fluorescence. Zinquin ethyl ester is excited by ultraviolet light and emits fluorescence in the blue spectral range to detect changes in intracellular free zinc ion concentration. Zinquin ethyl ester can be used in research related to cell biology, neuroscience, and apoptosis-associated zinc ion flux changes[1-4].
