Stachybotrylactam is a spirodihydrobenzofuranlactam mycotoxin originally isolated from Stachybotrys with antiviral activity. It inhibits HIV-1 protease in vitro with an IC50 value of 161 μM. Stachybotrylactam has no effect on oleic acid-elicited intracellular lipid accumulation and has no observable cytotoxicity at concentrations up to 100 μM in HepG2 cells.
