R18 is a synthetic peptide inhibitor of the protein-protein interaction between 14-3-3 proteins and Raf-1.1 It binds to 14-3-3τ, -β, and -ζ (Kds = 7.1, 7, and 8.9 nM, respectively) and inhibits 14-3-3τ binding to Raf-1 in a filter binding assay when used at a concentration of 5 nM. R18 also inhibits 14-3-3ζ-mediated protection of Raf-1 from phosphatase-induced inactivation.
