Protein deglycase DJ-1 against-1, a DJ-1-binding compound, dependently targets DJ1. Protein deglycase DJ-1 against-1 penetrates through the blood brain barrier (BBB). Protein deglycase DJ-1 against-1 is used as a neuroprotective agent and has the potential for Parkinson’s disease research[1].

Protein deglycase DJ-1 against-1 (compound-23; 1 mg/kg; IP; pretreatment one hour; daily; for 4 days) significantly restores MPTP induced locomotion, dopaminergic neuronal cell death and dopamine content in DJ-1(+/+) mice but not in DJ-1(-/-) mice[1].
