Polymyxin E1 is a peptide antibiotic and a major constituent of the cationic lipopeptide antibiotic colistin originally isolated from B. polymyxa.1 It is active against P. aeruginosa and E. coli (MICs = 2 and 0.8 µg/ml, respectively).
