Picosulfate is a stimulant laxative and prodrug form of desacetyl bisacodyl .1 Unlike bisacodyl , picosulfate is hydrolyzed to DAB by colonic microbiota. Picosulfate (5 mg/kg) increases excreted fecal weight in a rat model of loperamide-induced constipation.2 Formulations containing picosulfate have been used for colonoscopy preparation.
