Neuromedin U-23 (rat) (trifluoroacetate salt) is a 23-amino acid brain-gut peptide found in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues[1]. Neuromedin U-23 can contract smooth muscle, regulate blood pressure, and participate in pain perception, appetite, bone growth, and hormone release[2, 3]. Neuromedin U-23 has shown anxiolytic effects in animal elevation and maze tests and participates in the regulation of β-adrenergic and cholinergic nervous systems[4]. Long-term administration of Neuromedin U-23 can reduce body weight, decrease food intake, and increase core body temperature in mice[5, 6].
