LQEQ-19 (VGF599-617) is a Pro-VGF-derived peptide that induces penile erection when injected into the paraventricular nucleus of male rats. The effect is mediated by increased nitric oxide production in the hypothalamic nucleus causing activation of paraventricular oxytocinergic neurons. LQEQ-19 also evoked thermal hyperalgesia when injected intrathecally into naÏve adult mice.
