The ODmab group is an excellent protecting group for carboxylic acids. It is orthogonal to both acid (TFA) and 20% piperidine-labile protecting groups used in standard and automated peptide chemistry. Dmab esters are quantitatively cleaved with 2% hydrazine in DMF within minutes.
