Ferroptosis inducer 24 is an inducer of ferroptosis.[1] It inhibits glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) by 30-35% when used at a concentration of 50 µM. Ferroptosis inducer 24 (10 µM) increases the levels of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in MDA-MB-231 triple-negative breast cancer cells, as well as increases the levels of bilirubin formed by HO-1 in MDA-MB-231 cell lysates. It reduces the viability of, as well as increases the levels of oxidized lipids, decreases the levels of IL-6 and glutathione (GST), and disrupts the mitochondrial membrane potential in, MDA-MB-231 cancer cells when used at a concentration of 50 µM. Ferroptosis inducer 24 also increases the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in a time-dependent manner.
