Epitetracycline (hydrochloride) is an epimer of the antibiotic tetracycline with low antibiotic activity [1]. Epitetracycline can be used as a reference substance to investigate the contribution of earthworms to the degradation performance of tetracycline in the soil[2]. Epitetracycline can be used as an internal reference to optimize high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the detection of tetracycline degradation status and the identification of related compounds[3].
