Desacetylcefotaxime is an active metabolite of the cephalosporin antibiotic cefotaxime .1 It is active against 60 clinical isolates derived from patients with meningitis, including H. influenzae, S. pneumoniae, S. agalactiae, and N. meningitidis (MIC90s = 0.008-0.12 µg/ml).
