Cholic acid 3-sulfate is a metabolite of the primary bile acid cholic acid .[1],[2] Plasma levels of cholic acid 3-sulfate are increased in patients with intrahepatic cholestasis and mutations in the gene encoding the bile salt export pump (BSEP), ABCB11.[3]
