BODIPY 665/676 is a lipophilic fluorescent probe with high affinity for binding free fatty acids and triglycerides, with a maximum absorption wavelength of long wavelength( λ Ex=665nm) and maximum fluorescence emission wavelength (Em=676nm) [1]. Similar to the commonly used lipid peroxidation probe C11 BODIPY 581/591 (MX5211-1MG), BODIPY 665/676 is easily oxidized by peroxides. Once oxidized, the maximum emission wavelength shifts to 605nm( λ Ex=580 nm) [2-4]. The most important advantage of BODIPY 665/676 is that its emission wavelength is 676nm, which does not cross with the majority of fluorescein, thus avoiding interference such as self fluorescence. BODIPY 665/676 exhibits thermal stability and high hydrophobicity, thus preventing the diffusion of lipid droplets. The exciter at 642nm is close to the maximum absorption wavelength at 665nm, thus obtaining a strong fluorescence signal at very low probe concentrations [5].
