(-)-β-Sesquiphellandrene is a sesquiterpene that has been found in Z. officinale and has antiviral and anticancer activities.1,2 It reduces rhinovirus IB virus replication in a plaque reduction assay (IC50 = 0.44 µM).1 (-)-β-Sesquiphellandrene is cytotoxic to HCT116 cells when used at a concentration of 10 µM.2
