2',3'-Dideoxyadenosine-5'-O-(1-thiotriphosphate) (ddATP-α-S) is a sulfur-containing nucleoside triphosphate derivative. Thiol-containing dideoxynucleoside triphosphates (α-S-ddNTPs) incorporated into allele-specific primers prevent complete digestion by 5’-phosphodiesterase, which allows for alkylation and identification of SNP-containing alleles.¹ ddATP-α-S has been used for chain extension in PCR assays.² ddATP-α-S is a mixture of Rp and Sp isomers.
