It is produced from α-linolenic acid by the gut bacteria L. plantarum.1 10-oxo-12(Z),15(Z)-Octadecadienoic acid decreases increases in mRNA expression levels of the gene encoding SREBP-1c by the liver X receptor (LXR) agonist T0901317 in HepG2 cells.
