1,2-Dioleoyl-rac-glycerol, an important diacylglyceride, is used as the lipid standard in mass spectrometry analysis [1]. 1,2-Dioleoyl-rac-glycerol inhibits phorbol ester binding to protein kinase C via a competitive mechanism [2]. 1,2-Dioleoyl-rac-glycerol is widely used as an helper lipid in gene delivery systems to enhance gene transfer[3].
In vitro, 1,2-Dioleoyl-rac-glycerol treatment at 50μM for 5 minutes significantly induced the expression of protein kinase C in myoblasts and increased calcium ion influx[4].
In vivo, 1,2-Dioleoyl-rac-glycerol treatment via subcutaneous injection at a dose of 150μg/100g/day for 6 days inhibited the tumor growth in the L5178Y xenograft tumor mouse models[5].
